Introduction

The Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine

The Council for Professions Supplementary to Medicine regulates specified professions allied to medicine in Jamaica under the Professions Supplementary to Medicine Act, 1969, and its Regulations. Its responsibilities include assessing eligibility for registration, maintaining professional standards and addressing matters of professional conduct. The Council operates under the Ministry of Health and Wellness.

Mission

To register and regulate specified professions allied to medicine in Jamaica through the following duties:

  4. 04Investigating complaints of illegal/unethical practices related to the professions

Accountability

ENFORCEMENT

The Council's disciplinary and registration functions include:

  1. Removal from the Register

    Remove a practitioner from the Register where renewal requirements have not been met.

  2. Suspension

    Suspend a practitioner following a finding of professional misconduct or a criminal offence, as provided by law.
